Simplified citizenship of the Russian Federation
When obtaining Russian citizenship through a simplified procedure, a residence permit is usually not required. In cases where it is still needed, the required period of residence in the Russian Federation is reduced from 5 years to a year or 3 years depending on who is applying for Russian citizenship.
The documents are reviewed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs
within 3-6 months.
- 01If a foreigner is married to a citizen of the Russian Federation, then only a common child will be the basis for simplified acquisition of citizenship.
- 02Foreigners who already have the status of a native speaker of the Russian language (valid until October 26, 2023).
- 03Citizens of the USSR who currently do not have citizenship, as well as those foreigners who were born or lived on the territory of the RSFSR or on the territory of the USSR or the Russian Empire within the current borders of the Russian Federation.
- 04A foreigner whose parents or children are citizens of the Russian Federation. As well as the foreigner’s relatives in the ascending line (grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.) who were born or lived in the territory of the RSFSR, the USSR or the Russian Empire.
- 05A foreign citizen has citizenship of Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova.
- 06Foreigners who have completed their full-time studies at a Russian university with honors (if the student has a learner’s TRP).
- 07Participants of the “State program to assist the voluntary resettlement of compatriots living abroad to the Russian Federation” and their family members, who can apply for citizenship immediately after obtaining a residence permit.
- 08A foreigner who has entered into a contract for service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, other troops or military formations for a period of at least 1 year.
- 01A foreign citizen has worked for at least one year in the Russian Federation in professions/positions/specialties that are classified as "qualified specialists".
- 02An individual entrepreneur (IP) carrying out business activities* in the Russian Federation for at least 3 (three) years continuously + the amount of taxes, fees and insurance premiums paid in each calendar year was at least 1 (one) million rubles.
- 03An investor who owns a share (minimum 10%) in a Russian company for at least 3 (three) years continuously + the authorized capital of the company is at least 100 (one hundred) million rubles + the amount of taxes, fees and insurance premiums paid by such company for the specified period is not less than 6 (six) million rubles per year.
